Quartermaster is hiring for Engineering Program Manager

Program roadmapping Team coordination Risk assessment

Job Description

At Quartermaster AI, we believe the ocean should be a safe and sustainably managed resource for all. By leveraging cutting-edge AI and robotics, we unlock capabilities that were only recently impossible. Our distributed open-ocean systems enable every vessel to sense, compute, and communicate, enhancing maritime domain awareness for those who need it most.

We’re a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering team spanning software, RF, AI/ML, mechanical design, networking, and cybersecurity, and beyond. Our systems operate in the real world: heat, vibration, rain, corrosion, with the unpredictability of the sea. You’ll help take complex multi-faceted engineering problems and guide them to successful and on-time delivery.

Job Description:

We’re seeking an Engineering Program Manager to help organize and apply execution discipline to Quartermaster’s engineering efforts. You will set up program schedules/Gantt charts, map dependencies, work with individual engineers to break projects down into tasks, and ensure our eng org progresses toward milestones without surprises. In this role you will have a large impact on the efficacy and efficiency of our engineering operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning & Execution

  • Work with engineering leads (electrical, mechanical, RF, networking, AI/ML, software) to define project scopes, milestones, timelines, and dependencies.

  • Build and maintain Gantt charts, engineering roadmaps, and multi-track schedules.

  • Translate product requirements and high-level goals into structured, sequenced task breakdowns with clear owners.

Engineering Coordination

  • Run regular engineering planning, stand-ups, and milestone reviews

  • Maintain a unified program board / task tracker and ensure engineering documentation stays organized and current.

  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, and other key stakeholders to ensure timelines are realistic .

  • Implement lightweight processes that increase velocity: planning templates, milestone definitions, checklists, review cadences.

Qualifications (preferred):

  • 8+ years in engineering program management, technical program management, or a similar role coordinating technical execution.

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering programs ideally including at least two of the following: hardware, firmware, networking, embedded systems, mechanical design, ML/AI, or field deployments.

  • Familiarity with maritime, aerospace, robotics, ruggedized hardware systems, startups or product development work environments.

  • Ability to create detailed Gantt charts, program schedules, and structured execution plans.

  • Excellent communication skills; able to work across technical and non-technical teams and keep information flowing cleanly.

  • Comfort with JIRA /Confluence (or similar tools), Gantt charts, and engineering documentation workflows.

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers or field deployment teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering programs.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary

  • Flexible work hours and the option for remote work.

  • Opportunities for professional development and continued education.
