The AWS Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated solutions for deploying and managing AWS cloud infrastructure. This role involves managing production workloads within AWS and Salesforce environments, ensuring efficient and reliable operations.

The AWS Cloud Engineer will assist in configuring networking and security controls within AWS and Salesforce, including external system integrations, to maintain a secure and functional environment. Additionally, the AWS Cloud Engineer will support 24x7 call-center operations using Amazon Connect IVR and voice routing, ensuring consistent availability and performance.

The role includes maintaining continuous monitoring and observability solutions to monitor system health and performance, as well as implementing and monitoring auditing processes for AWS and Salesforce environments to ensure compliance and security. The AWS Cloud Engineer will work closely with the DevOps team to support automation solutions for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows.

Operating within a modified agile implementation framework, the program delivers capabilities to other mission teams. As part of an agile team, the candidate will participate in Sprint and Release-level activities, including deploying new capabilities in lower environments (Development, Test) and monitoring and troubleshooting issues in the Production environment.

The AWS Cloud Engineer will support system reliability and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs). Additional responsibilities may include assisting development team activities during automation integration efforts, which may involve collaboration with government stakeholders and other contractors to build a successful product and troubleshoot issues effectively.

Primary responsibilities

  • Overseeing an AWS and Salesforce based environment, supporting maintenance, release activities, and troubleshooting of any Production issues. Additionally, supporting a cross-functional team in multiple lower Development and Test environments.
  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • AWS Cloud Engineer will be responsible for automating changes to environments using tooling such as Terraform, CloudFormation, various scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python), writing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab) to assist with development, testing, and Production release of capabilities to a 24x7 environment.
  • As part of an agile team, the candidate will participate in sprint and release level team activities, and technical exchange meetings in support of program objectives.
  • Additional work may be required to support development team activities during automation integration activities, this may involve interaction with government and other contractors to build a successful working product and the collaborative troubleshooting of issues.
  • Maintain integration with external systems such as EHR API's (FHIR), Identity and Authorization tools (Okta), and other third party tooling.
  • Maintains software and system configuration documentation. Works with cybersecurity team to develop and deploy authorized, hardened solutions within an AWS and Salesforce environment.
  • Reconfigures and manages software installation and license catalog in all environments.
  • Create a consistent structure utilized by the entire program.
  • Applies DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on IT systems deployed to AWS GovCloud as needed.
  • Stay updated on AWS advancements and recommend improvements to existing systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) with 4+ years supporting complex AWS environments.
  • Cloud Expertise:
    • AWS cloud infrastructure (including GovCloud).
    • Common AWS services: VPC, S3, EC2, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation.
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Networking: AWS VPC, DNS, CIDR, and routing.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and/or structured programming languages.
  • Salesforce Solutions:
    • Experience with Salesforce-based solutions.
    • Salesforce development support (deployment automation, version control, administration).
  • Contact Center & IVR: Experience with IVR solutions like Amazon Connect and contact center technologies.
  • Audio/Video Technologies: Real-time audio/video streams (WebRTC, SRTP) and traditional voice (PSTN).
  • Security:
    • Concepts: TLS, PKI, x509.
    • Tools: ACAS, OWASP, SonarQube.
    • Security controls and auditing.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Pipeline-driven deployments leveraging GitLab, Jenkins, and version control systems (Git).
  • Agile & Collaboration Tools: Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Professional Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
    • Proficiency in navigating electronic systems, computer programs, and virtual service platforms.

Requires a separate, quiet, private, confidential space to work from as well as having access to your own reliable high-speed internet hard wired to your home or apartment (coax or fiber from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to your home. Using a hot spot from a mobile device (tethering) or high latency ISP is not acceptable.

Must be an U.S. citizen, speak fluent English, and able to maintain and retain suitability investigation and clearance as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Veteran/military retiree and/or military spouse or Experience working with and/or for military communities.
  • Experience in or supporting a Contact Center, Military/Veteran services, or healthcare environment.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
