What You'll Do:
- Design, develop, and test high-quality software systems using Python or Kotlin.
- Support the product development lifecycle by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Identify project, process, technology, or business issues and drive effective solutions.
- Set and maintain code review and design standards for the team.
- Independently identify solutions for ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Own and deliver projects aligned with quarterly team goals.
- Incorporate stakeholder needs and opinions while advocating for ideas and initiatives.
- Provide guidance on core application architecture decisions and lead implementations.
- Define and deliver well-scoped project milestones and technical specifications.
- Engineer and integrate Affirm systems with third-party solutions such as AWS.
- Provide support for questions related to software systems and internal tooling.
- Debug code issues using data analysis and stack traces.
- Mentor and level up junior team members through guidance and example.
- May telecommute.
What We Look For:
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience.
- Software application development using Python or Kotlin.
- Experience with OLTP and OLAP databases including SQL, NoSQL, and relational databases.
- Architecting and maintaining complex distributed systems.
- Developing and deploying projects using Agile methodologies, version control, and code reviews.
- Experience with AWS services including Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS Lambda, or SQS.
- Containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Writing and maintaining unit, integration, and functional tests using modern testing frameworks.
- Debugging production issues using data analysis and stack traces.
Base Pay Grade – N
Equity Grade – 6
Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure based on factors such as location, experience, and job-related skills. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits including 100% subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents.
USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $190,000 – $240,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states): $180,960 – $219,000
