Job Description

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

The Powered by Affirm (PBA) team builds the APIs and solutions that power all of Affirm’s integrations with Enterprise Merchants and Partners. We create and manage the APIs and tools that drive checkout and merchant onboarding, and we collaborate with stakeholders to design and build custom end-to-end integrated solutions.

What You'll Do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and supporting them throughout delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during the product development lifecycle, articulating technical constraints and weighing risks and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues and lead efforts to resolve them.
• Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call and reliability efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by improving code review and design standards and advocating for them through writing and tech talks.
• Develop talent on the team by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

What We Look For

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
• Proven experience building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
• Ability to make significant changes in large codebases using safe and reliable tools and practices.
• Strong sense of ownership over personal growth, with proactive feedback-seeking from peers, managers, and stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Pay Grade: N

Equity Grade: 6

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure based on factors including location, experience, and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits including 100% subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents.

CAN base pay range per year: $150,000 – $200,000
