We are seeking a seasoned Credit Strategy Leader to drive the evolution of Affirm’s credit decisioning capabilities across international markets and help shape the long-term direction of our underwriting, portfolio performance, and regulatory alignment. This role will lead high-impact initiatives across products and geographies, partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Legal, and Compliance to design scalable, compliant credit systems that balance growth, customer experience, and risk management.
The ideal candidate brings exceptional analytical rigor, deep credit domain expertise, and the ability to influence stakeholders across both technical and non-technical teams. You thrive in ambiguity, translate complex regulatory and economic insights into actionable strategies, and operate effectively at both strategic and execution levels.

What You’ll Do
- Leverage advanced data analytics to derive insights and optimize credit strategies across products and geographies.
- Partner with Engineering to design and build scalable risk models and credit risk capabilities.
- Monitor portfolio performance and macroeconomic trends, adjusting underwriting and marketing strategies to mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Compliance teams to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into credit policy and product design.
- Engage with external stakeholders including merchants, vendors, and regulators to ensure compliance and alignment.
- Oversee the development of underwriting frameworks that balance growth, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Drive cross-functional alignment for new product launches and international market entry.
- Mentor and guide credit analysts, fostering expertise in credit strategy and regulatory awareness.
- Manage team priorities, resources, and delivery timelines.
- May supervise direct reports.
What We Look For
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Experience with data mining, data visualization, and statistical modeling.
- Applying machine learning techniques to credit risk management.
- Developing and optimizing credit strategies using advanced analytics.
- Monitoring and interpreting model performance metrics across portfolios.
- Proven leadership of cross-functional initiatives involving Product, Legal, Compliance, and Engineering.
- Deep understanding of consumer lending regulations, fair lending principles, and regional market dynamics.
- Ability to convert regulatory and economic insights into actionable strategies.
- Experience mentoring high-performing analytical teams.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder-influencing skills.

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm maintains a transparent pay structure based on location, experience, and job-related skills.
Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly lifestyle and tech stipends, benefits (including 100% subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents), and potential equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc.
NL base pay range per year: €114,000 – €154,000
